Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

PeekPilot provides website uptime and SSL monitoring services. Our website is peekpilot.com. The official Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android apps are covered by our separate App Privacy Policy. For privacy questions, contact us at we@peekpilot.com.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address, a password hash, and an optional brand name. We do not store your password in plaintext. When you add monitors, we store their names, monitored URLs, settings, and check results, including HTTP status codes, response times, certificate expiry dates, and error messages.

If you connect a supported PeekPilot app to your account, we also store connection labels, account-linked credentials and permissions, creation and last-use dates, and revocation information. Requests you submit through the app may be stored with their processing status, results, and error details so we can carry out and track your requested changes.

We also collect IP addresses in server logs for security and rate-limiting purposes. These logs are rotated and not used for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide and maintain PeekPilot: sending monitoring alerts, displaying your dashboard and public status pages, delivering reports, processing subscriptions, supporting connected apps, preventing misuse, and recovering the service after failures. We do not sell or rent your personal data. Service providers involved in delivering these functions are described below.

4. Third-Party Services

Payment processing: Paid-plan checkout is handled by Paddle. Paddle processes payment information under its privacy policy. We receive subscription and transaction information needed to manage your plan, not your full payment card number or security code.

Analytics: Where configured, Google Analytics loads after you accept analytics cookies. It processes usage information, such as page views and engagement, together with browser, device, and cookie identifiers. You can choose essential cookies only in our cookie banner or use Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting and email delivery: Our hosting infrastructure stores service data. Our hosting mail server or configured email delivery provider processes recipient addresses and message content to deliver transactional emails, including alerts, reports, and verification messages.

Recovery backups: When offsite backups are enabled, we use Google Drive to store encrypted recovery copies of service data. The backup connection uses a PeekPilot-controlled account and limited file access to upload, verify, retrieve, and remove backup files. It does not request access to customers' Google Drive or Gmail accounts. Google's handling of its services is described in its privacy policy.

5. Data Storage & Security

Account, monitoring, and app-connection records are stored on our service infrastructure. We use safeguards including password hashing, access controls, protected app credentials, and HTTPS for service connections. Offsite recovery copies are encrypted before they are transferred to backup storage, and access to backups is restricted to authorized service administration and recovery.

Backups are for service recovery and integrity checks, not advertising or routine access to deleted accounts. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

6. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a preview access cookie when the site is in pre-launch mode. These are necessary for those features and are not used for advertising. We also store your cookie preference in your browser. When you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics may set cookies for usage measurement. Choosing essential cookies only does not prevent you from using your account.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Active service records: We retain account data while your account is active. Detailed monitoring checks are normally retained for 30 days and are then removed by an automated cleanup. Downtime is recorded separately as compact incidents: Free and Standard accounts normally retain 30 days of closed incident history, while Pro accounts normally retain 180 days. Time without a confirmed incident is treated as uptime rather than stored as six months of successful checks. Open incidents remain retained until resolved. Expired closed incidents and their attached alert-delivery logs are removed by the routine cleanup; cleanup failures may temporarily extend these periods. App-connection and submitted app-request records may be retained for service operation, security, support, and recovery while the account remains active. Removing a monitor or revoking an app connection does not by itself erase every related historical record.

Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing we@peekpilot.com. We will respond within 48 hours and complete deletion from active service systems within 7 days. Backup copies are handled separately as described below.

Backup rotation: When offsite backups are enabled, the normal retention target is the latest 60 verified successful daily backups, usually around two months. Older copies are removed after a newer backup has been verified. Backup or cleanup failures can extend this period while the issue is addressed, so this is not a guaranteed 60-calendar-day deletion limit.

Deleted data in backups: Information deleted from active systems may remain in restricted backup copies until those copies are removed through rotation. These copies are not used to reactivate deleted accounts or for normal service operations. If a backup is restored, completed deletion requests must be reapplied before the restored data returns to normal use.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You may request a copy of all data associated with your account at any time. To exercise these rights, email we@peekpilot.com. We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling.

9. Children's Privacy

PeekPilot is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. The latest version will always be available at this page.
